Military men and women get redeployed now and then. Hardly do they stay in one station for many months. A military spouse who want to be with the family finds it difficult to maintain a job and a good career. It is also hard for a military spouse to take any career education course as she or he does not know when the next redeployment will happen.
However, thanks to advanced technology, military spouses can be able to take up online career training programs. The spouses are able to enroll for distance learning programs while based at any part of the world. Several other learning institutions allows the learner to participate in the programs from any part of the world. Online training programs has allowed several military spouses to advance their careers without considering deployment as a hindering factor.
There is also a scholarships program referred to as The Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA), that financially assists the military spouses pursue various degrees and licenses. The scholarship programs have benefited several military spouses to become professionals in different fields. Military spouses willing to get certification or licensing or willing to become a professional in teaching, medicine, etc. have all benefited from the program. The program has made it easier for military spouses to learn and excel.
The [procedure for making an application involves opening an account on the MyCAA website. Depending with information provide on the account, the board decides if the candidate is eligible or not. Any successful applicant then makes an application, 30 days prior to the start of the courses.
We look at what MyCAA program covers. Normally the scholarship caters for the tuition fee, which basically includes tuition and examination fee. It also caters for the cost of attaining a certification or license from an accredited learning institution.
However, while the spouse is taking up MyCAA training program, it is important to note that the program has some areas that it does not cover. Some of the issues not covered includes the fee for courses and examinations that is not included in the military plan for Education and Training. If the spouse had already enrolled for a course before joining the program, the program will also not cater for that, as well as a course that the spouse had previously taken.
MyCAA does not also make any prior payment for a future course that the military spouse intends to take in future, unless it is a prior payment of the same course that the spouse is taking now. Another necessity omitted in the MyCAA online training program is the cost of uniforms or books, amongst many more.
